Westchester Fashion Academy for Children

Most designers travel to different countries for inspiration and to learn of the dress,music and customs of that region.Our designers also try to follow this practice by way of virtual travel through music, pictures and guest appearances from countries such as Senegal,Ghana,China,Japan and Ukraine that visit us wearing their native attire!

July 8th we invited one family from Ghana and one from Sensgal to grace our studio with their native attire!

Such beautiful garments ,hand dyed ,hand sewn, trimmed and embroidered with fine gold details.

A delicately embossed textile from Senegal called "Basin" pronounced "baa sin" was admired by the students.

The Ghanian hand dyed ,hand printed waxed process proved to be a hit and is worn by many women of Ghana.

Olga is from the Ukraine and shares the customary dress with the campers.

Below Rajni wraps Asia  and Melissa in a Sari, which takes 9 yards of silk fabric.
